Research Intern

Caroline Marie Duque is a cultural heritage professional from the Philippines with over a decade of experience in museum practice, specializing in exhibition development, collections stewardship, and institutional development. She currently serves as Curator for Fine Arts at the National Museum of the Philippines, where she leads curatorial research, exhibition development, and collections-based projects. Beyond her curatorial responsibilities, she contributes to strategic initiatives in museum development, cultural property repatriations, and international collaborations. She has also delivered lectures and professional training for museums, universities, and government institutions in the Philippines and abroad.

In 2022, Caroline was awarded the Asian Cultural Council Individual Fellowship Grant, which enabled her to spend six months working with institutions including the Smithsonian Institution, the Yale Peabody Museum, and the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration. During the fellowship, she visited more than 70 museums across the United States, gaining insights into exhibitions, collections care, audience engagement, and museum management that continue to inform her professional practice.

Caroline is also a member of the University of the Philippines Manila Chorale and served on its Executive Committee from 2009 to 2019. Alongside performing as an alto, she helped organize the choir's concert seasons and international tours in Europe and Asia, gaining practical experience in arts administration and project management.

She is currently pursuing a Master in Arts Management and Administration at SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan, where she is focusing on museum leadership, strategy, and organizational management to help build more innovative, inclusive, and sustainable cultural institutions.
