An ABA member commissioned this project to explore ways to increase the visibility and accessibility of studio spaces, attracting a broader range of potential renters while balancing priority audiences with the organization’s mission and considering both earned and contributed revenue streams

Key findings of this report include:

  • A clear definition of target groups is essential, as it helps to shape the booking experience around specific needs and behaviors.

  • Designing each part of the user journey involves intentional steps and decisions: from visual identity and storytelling to balancing information, selecting the right booking tools and pricing models, and building effective support systems.

  • Expanding communication beyond promoting rentals is a chance to build a stronger sense of belonging, connection, and tailored support.

  • When considering contributed revenue sources, thinking broadly can lead to new possibilities. Partnerships built on shared values can enable meaningful initiatives that enhance community engagement and activate studio spaces.
